Amber Vinson, a Dallas nurse who contracted Ebola while caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, is now free of the virus, according to her family.
Vinson arrived at Emory University Hospital last week for treatment. As of Tuesday night, officials with the hospital and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Ebola were not able to detect Ebola in Vinson's body, her family said in the statement.

Indeed great news, and certainly happened because of the great care she received.

(2,004 posts)Good for her and her family. May she have a long and wonderful life after surviving this dread disease.
It is starting to look like Ebola can be survived if proper care is started very early in the disease. Just wish we could provide the level of care for all the victims in West Africa. The death toll could be slashed dramatically if the victims in West Africa had access to the level of care available in the US.
It is a terrible tragedy that Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital gave him the poorest care, especially when he arrived the first time. If he had received proper care, he may have had a chance to survive this illness.

(26,060 posts)I read this morning that the fiance of Mr. Duncan was having trouble finding a place to live due to moronic hysteria. The President is showing there is nothing to be afraid of. It may be a photo op but it's one filled with meaning. Meanwhile the subway today was as crowded as ever and I saw zero evidence of anything resembling panic in NYC. I'm very proud of my city today.
Have a great weekend, Cha.

(26,060 posts)and took it yesterday morning and after work along with the crowds of others and if I had reason to be on the west side I would have ridden the #1 with no problem at all. I honestly didn't even know the L train was still running. My boss took an Uber car to get home. I guess it takes more than a disease that's very hard to get to get us into a panic. Watching the hair-on-fire right winger's hysteria (from people who don't live anywhere near here) has been pretty amusing.
