A student believed to have opened fire at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Friday morning is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to two law-enforcement sources.

Police have not released details, but there are reports of as many as six other people injured.

Ambulances are staging around the school and police are searching room to room with guns drawn, leaving tape to mark the doors of the rooms that have been cleared.

Some students were being evacuated from the school, walking out and across the fields with their hands up. Some were being bused to a nearby church. Others were being told to stay inside classrooms.

The shooting was reported about 10:45 a.m.

We’ll update this post with more information.

I have family in that area and I just love it when this happens, I get to wonder for a few minutes.

Reminds me of when the War criminals W and Cheney invaded Iraq and the worries there.

You know, like they did only a few months after Sandy Hook--

NRA leadership demonstrated yet again last week just how low they are willing to go in their unconscionable effort to block any and all common sense, life saving gun violence legislation. Their most recent repugnant tactic—repeated robo calls to Newtown families—mocks and betrays the courage and compassion demonstrated by the Newtown community just barely three months after one of the world’s most horrific acts of gun violence seized 26 beautiful and heroic young lives.

supported by LEOs, and another that is clearly off the NRA boiler plate. The language is the same as used by those who believe Obama is going to come and get their guns without due process.

It's absurd, but the GOP of the past here is not that of today, they supported not having guns in the hands of all no matter what they'd done. We had an OC rally at the state capitol and have our own crop of 'Second Amendments Solution' types as well as some OCTexas whipping up the frenzy. Along with our resident Libertarians, Ron Paul groupies, some far right and CT types.

While this had nothing to do with that, I bet it'll be effective with some voters on either side of things...

How does that one work?
It would have to be a ban on intra-state sales by private individuals without using a dealer to act as middle man and run the background check...or open the back ground checks to everybody but I think that is a Federal issue.
All table sales at a gunshow already do background checks, this would have to be for people who wander around the parking lot trying to sell their own firearm. (which they can do anywhere)

My reply was to someone who saw that common sense regulation was being discouraged. I gave two examples. EOM.

Prayers go out to those families affected by the shooting and the kids/staff who were there.

This morning about 7:30 am while reading DU, my son texts me "They've evacuated the school.". It was a terribly long 90 min. before I heard from him again.

I know this community well, the Tulalip Tribes. No more comment. I'm a host and I'm probably supposed to lock this as local news and gun related. But someone else will need to do that.
