Ebola Nurse Upset Over Quarantine In Maine Home Goes Outside; Police Watch From Across Street

FORT KENT, Maine — A nurse who treated Ebola patients in West Africa vowed on Wednesday to end her voluntary quarantine, even going so far as to step out of her home and shake a reporter's hand, signaling a showdown with state police monitoring her and state officials seeking to legally enforce her confinement.

Kaci Hickox broke her quarantine by stepping outside with her boyfriend and speaking briefly to reporters Wednesday night. State and local police could only watch from across the street because a judge hadn't signed off on a court order sought by state health officials.

Hickox, who has shown no symptoms of Ebola, told NBC's "Today" show and ABC's "Good Morning America" earlier that she planned to defy the state's voluntary quarantine.

"I remain appalled by these home quarantine policies that have been forced upon me even though I am in perfectly good health," Hickox said on "Today."

excellent lawyer with an equalling keen vocabulary, passion and bravery. And they are right, entire scientific world is on their side.

Let it be clear because the mass media is trying to confuse the issue, she agrees with the CDC self monitoring guidelines, it is Lepage and his tea bagger idiots and panderers she is fighting, as she did in New Jersey before she got too hot for Christie.

You go, girl, fuck the fear mongers and their herds.

It works so well for a variety of reasons:

It's "from Africa," just like "those people."

It's "from Africa," just like our Kenyan muslin pres!

"They" are trying to wipe out god's white race with it.

White people never should have gone to Africa to "intermingle" (and god knows what else!11!) with "those people," so they're sullied and unclean!!1! Quarantine them! That'll learn 'em good!

Oh, and there's a black guy in the white house too!!1!

in the beginning and explained what they wanted to do and placed her in a reasonable and proper isolation unit she would have been ok. Read Jeb Bush, yea, the brother of W who fucked up America along with several unpaid wars and over 200 thousand deaths, had the nerve to call Pres O incompetent.

6. Why is Kaci Hickox always the "ebola nurse" in all the headlines, she has a freaking name.

Makes her less human and more scary I guess, that is how the corporate media will try to cover for their massive deception of America, all now so rapidly unravelling due to the courage of one medical hero.

This could be the story of the election, mass turnout in anger at the fucking liars that tried to frighten them to vote a certain way. Those liars are Republicans and their enabling corporate media.

I recall the villagers were not happy either with the boy who cried wolf.

According to Hickox’s mother, Karen Hickox, her daughter has traveled to several countries in Africa for Doctors Without Borders and graduated with a master’s in nursing and public health from John Hopkins. She was even a former employee of the CDC.

In a phone call with her mother, Karen stated that her daughter “cried so hard she could hardly talk at first. That’s not in her nature … she’s not one that cries a lot. So that was a little hard as mother.”

A classmate of hers from John Hopkins, Dr. Nora Rowley, said, “She’s not a loudmouth activist, but she understands the contagiousness of the virus, and now she has to come back and be subjected to a policy that’s not based on anything other than fear.”

Their tactic was obvious. Stoke FEAR of Ebola, claim it's Obama's fault, put on their Superman Capes and claim to be the heroes that will save us all.

What are they going to do now....force a quarantine on the reporters, especially the one she shook hands with? If you are going with the excuse....better safe than sorry, how do ignore this? Kaci is calling their bluff, challenging governors to respond on the same emotional logic they offer as an excuse for locking her up. Meantime, Doctors Without Borders reports that of the over three thousand volunteers the responded to this crises, only 23 contracted ebola. The vast majority of volunteers were never infected. Smart move Kaci!
