Mowrer concedes to Steve King in 4th District (IA)

Source: Des Moines Register

U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Kiron, won a seventh term in Congress on Tuesday, defeating Democrat Jim Mowrer of Boone after a deeply divisive political battle in Iowa's 4th District.

Mowrer conceded the race shortly after 10 p.m.

King, 65, is an outspoken conservative who has been labeled one of the most partisan members of the House of Representatives. He faced harsh criticism on the campaign trail from Mowrer, 28, an Iraq war veteran and former Pentagon official. Mowrer tried to label King as an ineffective lawmaker who has embarrassed Iowans with controversial statements on immigration and other policy issues.

King said he is a better member of Congress than when he was first elected 12 years ago, and he believes Iowa values can help fix the federal government's troubles.

Wow, I thought King's seat would be a (D) steal this year because King polled under 50% in some polls!

Meanwhile, IA-3 looks to be a steal, as C-SPAN figure show Staci Appel (D) and David Young (R) 5000 votes apart.

And I heard on the radio that Fox News declared Iowa Senate seat to Joni Ernst. I hope Faux is wrong on this one!
