Obama Considering Lazard Banker for Treasury Post

WASHINGTONThe White House is expected to tap investment banker Antonio Weiss as the next U.S. Treasury Under Secretary for Domestic Finance, according to people familiar with the matter.
Mr. Weiss, 48, is currently head of global investment banking at Lazard, a mergers-and-acquisitions and restructuring shop on Wall Street well known for helping arrange corporate marriages and aiding distressed companies. If nominated and confirmed, Mr. Weiss would succeed Mary Miller, who stepped down from the senior Treasury post in early September. Matthew Rutherford has been filling the role in an acting basis.
Mr. Weisss nomination isn't final and the White House could decide to nominate someone else.
Mr. Weiss couldnt be reached for comment.
