Consumer Confidence Rises To Highest Level Since July 2007, Surveys Find

There could be good news for businesses come Black Friday and the holiday shopping season.
According to the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers released Wednesday, consumer confidence posted its fourth consecutive monthly gain in November, rising to its highest level since July 2007.
Conducted by the U-M Institute for Social Research since 1946, the surveys monitor consumer attitudes and expectations.
According to economist Richard Curtin, director of the surveys, the November gain was because of improved personal finances and a more favorable outlook for employment.
