CHICAGO (AP) Snow, ice and rain is falling in the Midwest and eastern parts of the U.S.
But the weather system is merely a prelude to the Arctic temperatures due to settle in Tuesday through Thursday.
The mix of precipitation affected a swath from Oklahoma to southern New England on Saturday.
A blizzard warning was issued for northern parts of North Dakota and Minnesota, with winds between 30 to 40 mph blowing snow that fell overnight.

(26,263 posts)It started snowing at about 6, this morning but now it has changed over to a cold rain/sleet hybrid. They are still predicting 3 inches of snow falling tomorrow, but they said the same thing about today and it just ain't happening.
For months, the weather people have been forecasting that we would have an even harsher winter than last year's. So far, we've had maybe two accumulating snows of less than 3 inches that disappeared within 48 hours and it has actually been one of the mildest winters in years. And I'm NOT complaining. I love Michigan weather for 3 seasons of the year. The 4th, not so much.

(891 posts)Had a couple of inches of snow, at the most, earlier today and it sounds like a rain/mix right now. Power's been out for over an hour now, so it's getting chilly inside the house....AND I'M MISSING MY STEELERS GAME!!!
