Arizona: Tucson schools violate ethnic studies ban

Source: AP

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — The head of Arizona public schools says the Tucson Unified School District is violating a state ban on ethnic studies and risks losing state funding.

Superintendent John Huppenthal announced Friday — his last day in office — that he was seeking sanctions against the school if it does not correct course by March 4.

He cited an introductory course on hip-hop from the African-American perspective and lyrics from the rock band Rage Against the Machine as violations.

School district Superintendent H.T. Sanchez said in a statement that he had requested a meeting with Huppenthal last month, but it was not scheduled. He said the district is reviewing Huppenthal's report.

Both are part of the fabric of American culture.
Does that mean that they have to stop teaching classes that contain info about George Washington?
He is white after all and we can't have schools teaching about white culture now can we?
That would be an 'ethnic' study....in fact lets just do away with history altogether.

So even thou rap and RATM are American cultural expressions, bigots want to use "ethnic studies" laws to prevent heterodox cultural expression.

I have no understanding of why some folks that end up in power are such racist shits.
These kids should know about their heritage! As should everyone else.
It is part of the fabric of this nation. Arizona was part of Mexico, after all, until the mid-1800s.

To answer my own question: Neither are 'ethnic' studies, just American studies.
Of course anything that is non-white is 'ethnic' to the racist scum that wrote, passed, and are enforcing this perversion of law.
