Truth, lies and Afghanistan

How military leaders have let us down
BY LT. COL. DANIEL L. DAVIS

I spent last year in Afghanistan, visiting and talking with U.S. troops and their Afghan partners. My duties with the Army’s Rapid Equipping Force took me into every significant area where our soldiers engage the enemy. Over the course of 12 months, I covered more than 9,000 miles and talked, traveled and patrolled with troops in Kandahar, Kunar, Ghazni, Khost, Paktika, Kunduz, Balkh, Nangarhar and other provinces.

What I saw bore no resemblance to rosy official statements by U.S. military leaders about conditions on the ground.

Entering this deployment, I was sincerely hoping to learn that the claims were true: that conditions in Afghanistan were improving, that the local government and military were progressing toward self-sufficiency. I did not need to witness dramatic improvements to be reassured, but merely hoped to see evidence of positive trends, to see companies or battalions produce even minimal but sustainable progress.

Instead, I witnessed the absence of success on virtually every level.

with the proviso that 'our enemy' is the lying liar rightwing reactionarky police statist conmen who run most of western society. When one sees the issue clearly as wasting time (so geebush and company can disappear from national consciousness, and the criminal war on Iraq also fade out-not to mention $700 billion bank bailout in defiance on 99% of voters etc) and every minute a new opportunity for rightwing to fill record with nonsense and promote themselves as the 'adults' while baby o'bama and the hippies ruin the planet (which, btw, theuy are actually doing) the 'plan', as recounted in Kevin Phillips book "Up From Conservativism' clearly shows that the nazipoohs (aka the reactionary rightwing gop/teaparty etc) are succeeding beyond their wildest hopes-so much so that rightwing goones like david frum are attacking Ronpaul desperately; as Ronpaul represents the 1/3rd demographic that always supports reactionary policies, no matter how insane...kevin phillips, a Reagan speechwriter, said the numbers favour fascism so much because
a)1/3 ALWAYS for rightwing
b) 1/3 always vote anti fascist
c) so out of remaining 1/3rd, the rightwing need win 1/2 only, or 1/6 of total- an easy target for big money rightwingers ie koch, murdock, mellon-scaife, limbah, AIPAC FedexYahoomcdonald gen electric Viacom etc...who control mass media etc... are winning and even THEY can't stop the momentum!
