I spoke to a kid last year about Christianity, and why he wasn't buying in.

He spoke of those who condemn more than love, who proselytize more than practice, who use Jesus as a weapon more often than a model for mercy and for their own lives.

He spoke of Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. As a reason to walk away. From the church.

And that's the irony. Roy Moore, self-anointed ambassador for Christ and warrior in the battle for God and the law and the state of Alabama, stands like a blockade to all the things he claims to care about.

He is the anti-ambassador for God, for he stands only for those who believe exactly like him.

There's more to the rest of this editorial than just the religious context of the first few paras.
