Planning for a cross-country march to restore America which is related to the Oregon nature preserve standoff appears to have hit a snag when one of its organizers shot the other co-founder Monday afternoon during a drunken argument over a gun.
Sheriffs deputies in Grayson County, Texas, have not released details about the fatal shooting, but social media posts by right-wing patriots associated with militants occupying an Oregon nature preserve identified the victim and shooter as the organizers of the Paul Revere 2016 Final March To Restore America.
Dear friends its my dearest regrets to have to share this heart breaking new (sic) with you tonight. That OUR fellow patriot and brother Charles Carter is no longer with us. He gone to be with Jesus. Today killed by a fellow patriot Vincent Smith. Who was suppose (sic) to be his brother in arms and friend, posted online radio host Keith Williams, who described himself as the victims next of kin.
Bill Williamson, another right-wing patriot associated with the Oregon militants, said in a Facebook post that Smith shot Carter in a drunken dispute over a gun.

(1,061 posts)co-found a march with a bad gun with a gun? Doesn't that make it inevitable that you'll have to kill him? Someone ask Wayne.
Or were they both good guys with guns and it was The Devil's Liquid that possessed him momentarily? Blame the bottle?
Or maybe one human being killed another human being because there are no good and bad absolutes, and if neither had been carrying guns, the worst outcome would have been a hangover?

(9,350 posts)From what I have seen they are blaming the shooting on the fact that one of the guys was drunk and tried to take the other guy's gun. So, I guess they would argue both were good guys, but one of the good guys got drunk and did something stupid and as a result he got shot and killed. One good guy with a gun had to shoot another good guy with a gun who got drunk and tried to steal another good guy's gun.

(1,061 posts)The good guys who 'got drunk and became bad guys' would have remained good, if only for that evil liquid.
Let's look at EVERY other shooting where alochol of other inebrients were involved, and absolve those 'bad guys'. They'd still be good guys with guns, if only for that disembodied alcohol consumption.

(9,350 posts)The thing about this story that gets me is how the militia men talked about the shooting. When Democrats want to prevent people from bringing guns into bars and other places that sell alcohol these people lose their minds. However, in talking about why the drunken militia man got shot they kept talking about how guns and alcohol do not mix.
So, if Democrats say guns and alcohol do not mix they claim Democrats are trying to take our guns away. However, when they shoot each other in drunken brawls they claim guns and alcohol do not mix.
