I used to have every one of Tom Lehrer's albums! There was even a cartoon calendar of his wittier truth bombs back in '67 as I recall. He was also a professor of mathematics at Harvard. The crusty old buggers at the top of the academic food chain in Hahvahd Yahd took a dim view of his humor and his fame and gave him an ultimatum: Performing or teaching. Pick one. He chose to teach. Sigh... Mathematics could have lived without him; we shouldn't have had to.

That he decided to quit doing satire when Henry Kissinger got the Nobel Peace Prize. One can hardly blame him for giving up.

... and the Kissinger theory is certainly a possibility, but I would like to hope that ol' Tom would have gone to afterburners to roast that evil old bastard's ass with some particularly biting satire!
