Trump launches war on unions
Labor leaders, who spent tens of millions of dollars campaigning against Trump, said after the election theyd give him a chance to deliver on his pro-worker agenda. But the cease-fire eroded in just the past 24 hours.
First, Trump blasted an Indiana union boss personally on Twitter, prompting a blistering response from labor leaders. Then he announced his choice for secretary of the Department of Labor is fast-food executive Andrew Puzder, a union critic whos even floated the idea of automating his restaurants to avoid worker costs.
Its part of a larger agenda, and you can see it playing out in terms of his picks, which is to destroy the labor movement, said RoseAnn DeMoro, executive director of National Nurses United. They want to do away with democracy. Thats the problem. Labor is a check on the balance of power with corporations and they want labor out of the way.
Just the tip of the iceberg. With his choices for Labor and Education, it can only get worse.

(406 posts)Has he resolved his Vegas property Union issue? Doubt it. This man thinks he's above all laws and societal norms. We all have to stand up and point out these issues and inconsistencies.

(220 posts)I don't necessarily mean on places like this where there like minded people. I mean in our every day real lives. We need to be loud all the time! We need to organize in our cities and work to hold our elected officials' feet to the fire.

If you live in a super blue state, you're reps are pushing for improvements to things like unions and climate change, but we now have a situation where the president lost the popular vote by a massive margin and it doesn't matter. All those votes are essentially thrown away and the blue states will get no assistance from any branch of the federal government anymore.

(406 posts)We need, in the blue states, to stand up and demand that our elected officials not roll over or play nice. We need to not sit quietly and assume the position of higher moral ground. Cause I can't imagine I'm the only one figuring out how horribly that worked out for us. If we all sit back and follow that plan, we're going to find ourselves writing out our stories in the hope that generations to come find our writings and learn something from them.
And I'm sure it was a mis-type, but he won the electoral college and lost the popular vote. We (whoever identifies blue) need to be active and loud in every single way possible. We're going to have to suffer for sure, but we need to do our best to not give in and roll over.
NO SURRENDER!
