In the fall of 2010, then-Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) informed the FBI that now-Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) was allegedly attempting to extort campaign contributions from a politically well-connected orthodox rabbi, Weiner said today.
Grimm has previously been accused of accepting questionable donations collected by a former associate of Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto. Weiners revelation would put Grimm, a former FBI agent himself, closer to the federal investigation surrounding Pintos former associates.
In an interview with Roll Call, Weiner said Pinto, who leads the popular Shuva Israel congregation, informed him in the early fall of 2010 that Grimm had attempted to extort money from him. Pintos ministries stretch from Israel to the United States and he splits his time between the two countries.

According to an AP report from today, FBI officials have confirmed they are considering a probe of the New York Republican, who has found himself in the midst of several scandals in recent months.
Roll Call first reported Friday that Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto told former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) in the fall of 2010 that Grimm had attempted to extort campaign funds from him. Weiner said he informed the FBI of those allegations immediately following his meeting with Pinto.
Although Grimm has strenuously denied Weiner's claims, the AP also reported Saturday that FBI officials confirmed that Weiner reached out to them in 2010.http://www.rollcall.com/news/Report-FBI-May-Probe-Rep-Michael-Grimm-212839-1.html?pos=hln

I actually dated Frank Barbaro's step daughter during his race vs Fosella like 12 years ago. I was biased (for you know, very important reasons =oP) against Fosella, but since I got older and heard about his policies, I would have hated him, too.
