Steve Bannon: 'We're going to war in the South China Sea ... no doubt'

Only months ago Donald Trump’s chief strategist predicted military involvement in east Asia and the Middle East in Breitbart radio shows

The United States and China will fight a war within the next 10 years over islands in the South China Sea, and “there’s no doubt about that”. At the same time, the US will be in another “major” war in the Middle East.

Those are the views – nine months ago at least – of one of the most powerful men in Donald Trump’s administration, Steve Bannon, the former head of far-right news website Breitbart who is now chief strategist at the White House.

While many in Trump’s team are outspoken critics of China, in radio shows Bannon hosted for Breitbart he makes plain the two largest threats to America: China and Islam.

“We’re going to war in the South China Sea in five to 10 years,” he said in March 2016. “There’s no doubt about that. They’re taking their sandbars and making basically stationary aircraft carriers and putting missiles on those. They come here to the United States in front of our face – and you understand how important face is – and say it’s an ancient territorial sea.”

Defeatist talk is not tolerated in Trumpist Dumbfuckistan. Our genius leader is using a lie made up by the Chinese to defeat them. It's AMAZING. BIG LEAGUE AMAZING.

Existential nihilism.

If life has no intrinsic value or meaning, why not bring it all crashing down? Not on my watch, shithog!

3. Bannon can screw himself, and that's a far better option than his plans to screw ALL of us.

Bannon is a nut case of the highest order, and any reasonable person would have to conclude that not only Bannon has to go, but the person who used fatal judgment to put him in his position also must go.

Oh, but I'm drifting along in FairyLand to think that Congress would save the Constitution from permanent destruction. The GOP is showing themselves to be just as contemptuous of the Constitution as Trumpy and Bannon. They're ENABLING Trumpy in his quest for absolute dictatorship.

The resistance must rise and take charge, or all of us lose.

He's a fan of the Russian philosopher Alexandre Dugin who believes in destroying the world order and taking the best aspects of liberalism, communism and fascism to rebuild it.

War with China certainly has the potential to drastically alter the world order, but I don't think Bannon gets that it may not be in our favor simply because of the logistics involved. China's mainland is right there next to those sea islands. Are we to deploy troops, material, planes etc. all the way over there while their supply lines would be 100 times shorter than ours? Plus they have a much bigger army.

Or is he foolishly envisioning a Desert Storm-style invasion of China without China reciprocating on our mainland?

Foolish to think either invasion would, especially with a mad man in our White House with access to the nuclear button, wouldn't involve hukes, then of course China would use theirs on us.

What fools have we put in charge?

And if he things Russia would have our back and partner with us, he's got that wrong as Putin most likely would insist on being the lead of any such partnership. But Putin is too smart to get involved in any such folly. He sit back and watch us destroy each other.
