Andrew Sullivan says journalists should be talking about Trump's mental health (CNN interview)

Excellent interview/video and article- Well worth watching. He comes across as highly credible and articulate. A very positive sign that CNN is airing this. The interview was prompted by Sullivan's article, The Madness of King Donald, which they mention. I'm sure CNN will get a lot of flack, and probably at least several tweets:
"Andrew Sullivan says it's time for journalists to talk publicly about President Trump's "mental stability."
"To have such an unstable figure, incapable of accepting reality, at the center of the world, is an extremely dangerous thing," Sullivan said in an interview for Sunday's "Reliable Sources" on CNN.
Sullivan's view is that the president is exhibiting "bonkers" behavior -- and that if they tip toe around it, journalists are doing the public a disservice.
Sullivan, a pioneering blogger who is now a contributing editor to New York magazine, recently started what he's calling a "weekly diary." His first entry addressed what he called "the obvious question of the president's mental and psychological health."
"I know we're not supposed to bring this up but it is staring us brutally in the face," Sullivan wrote.

(58,785 posts)yet. But at least it mentions the subject.
Fwiw, over the past couple years a number of public figures have flatly come out and spoken in public of this man's obvious personality disorder. Like Gary Trudeau, who also has documented his bizarre behaviors in over 30 years of cartoons.

(9,524 posts)Great article, but what is even greater is that CNN interviewed him about it, and he is fantastic on the interview.

(4,512 posts)but I've been waiting for Andrew to speak up, and yes, I'm glad CNN had him on.
Sullivan is a conservative Catholic and I disagree with him about 50% of the time. But he is honest and sincere and I have no doubt this nightmare is doing a number on him as well.

(17,003 posts)It's pretty obvious there is something seriously wrong with Twitler, whether it's a mental health issue, dementia, or that he is so compromised by Russia he can't tell the truth not talking about it won't make it go away.

(49,381 posts)big time when Trump steps down. I'd imagine there would be a whispering campaign to take Trump's obnoxious ass down.

(49,381 posts)the type who is above any cloak and dagger stuff. He's beholden to Trump for picking him to be his VP. If I was learned that he acted behind the scenes to bring Trump down, he'd be ruined as well.

(11 posts)I know people criticised the Daily Dish at the time, but he was sorely missed before and after the election. We need him back, if only because he expressed a rare viewpoint - gay Christian conservatism - and did so sensibly and articulately.
