You don't have to be a liberal to see that Krugman is right. The prevailing right-wing ideology that propels today's Republican Party is one that cannibalizes the future--by starving public works and infrastructure (And education. And public health. And environmental protection) to benefit a selfish, short-sighted, privileged few.
I have little sympathy for those remaining sane Republicans that think that somehow the GOP will re-discover responsible governance and the ability to embrace the future. The Republican Party has lost that capacity, and I don't see any way for it to recover those qualities in this generation or the next one.
Governor Christie's thinking and actions are entirely in line with those of today's current "mainstream" (i.e. extremist) Republican thinking. The ONLY way American citizen-voters can choose someone who is willing to build a better future for ourselves and our posterity is to vote for some party OTHER than the GOP and its allied factions.
