Condoleezza Rice: China Wants To Shift The Narrative On COVID-19, Don't Let Them

Rice primarily accuses China of a coverup of the early outbreak of the virus, which cost the world time that could have been used to prepare. It is "very hard to get answers from China," she said.
She concluded: "If you keep the focus on how this started, and China's role in that, they will be embarrassed by that. If you let them shift the narrative to all they've done sending out PPE, you're probably not going to make progress."
I would go to the U.N. Security Council and I would call a meeting. They'll try to veto anything that comes out of it. But I'd call a meeting and say the U.S. is going to share the information, maybe this is where we can bring the Europeans and others along, we're going to share the information on how this started.

(8,203 posts)Rice characterized the August 6, 2001, President's Daily Brief Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US as historical information.
Rice indicated "It was information based on old reporting Sean Wilentz of Salon magazine suggested that the PDB contained current information based on continuing investigations, including that Bin Laden wanted to "bring the fighting to America."
Historical information - old???..Well we ALL know now how historical the information was....
C Rice..just STFU

(61,881 posts)Sec. Rice's proposal to appeal to the UN while the Trump administration tries to scapegoat the WHO and shred international cooperation in fighting the pandemic would be laughable if the situation weren't so tragic.
Yes, China did some seriously wrong things, but any "narrative" of China's efforts after the fact is helped by the Trump Administration's criminally negligent response to the outbreak. Rice's condemnation of authoritarian untruthfulness might carry more weight if Trump didn't follow the same authoritarian playbook in gaslighting the American people and rewriting history.
"You have to be a more responsible partner, a more responsible power, given your weight now in the international system."
Does she see the irony in that sentence?

(4,150 posts)We spent billions (probably more?) on the fucked up war ON Iraq. . . She had the nerve to claim to be "outraged" when called on the carpet about it later and said she didn't appreciate having her ahem "integrity" called into question. . Fuck her. I don't care if she is anti-Trump. She is STILL a fucking liar.
