(34,404 posts)I've always hated shopping. I remember dreading going to the mall before Christmas. I'd walk in the door and completely space out. I felt like I was drunk and completely forgot what I was looking for. It was borderline traumatic. Online shopping has been the greatest concept of my lifetime.

That said, after 5 years of Trump I am now wary of people, and look for clues immediately as to whether they are sane, or one of the 70+ million people who willfully voted for a dictator. Even after this pandemic is over, I will be leery of going out into public where so many people are armed and mentally unbalanced.

(5,528 posts)It is possible that it may peak and start declining but that would in no way be failure.
Online shopping has its pros and cons and this pandemic has managed to enhance its pros in many ways. It isnt perfect but I dont see people abandoning Amazon like this author suggests. Maybe they could lose market share to someone else but they are not going away anytime soon.

Give me smaller, friendlier community, city stores pre- 1980 for hardware, pharmacy, clothes, household, books, music, etc. Even department stores which have disappeared and small speciality shops, boutiques.
