Jeff Bezos' Amazon Could End up Bankrupt for These Reasons, According to Specialist

Doug Stephens, a retail expert and founder of Retail Prophet, predicts that the online commerce giant will fail in the next decade and explains why.

Right now, Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world thanks to Amazon , his leading online sales company. However, retail expert Doug Stephens predicts that the giant could fall over the next decade, even going bankrupt.

On his Business of Fashion corporate page, Retail Prophet's founder and advisor to some of the world's most respected brands predicts "the end of Amazon."

"I think that in ten years Amazon is going to decline and these are just some of the reasons," Stephens wrote.

Amazon follows in Walmart's footsteps

One of the reasons for the possible bankruptcy of the online trading platform would be that it is following the same patterns as other companies. Stephens gives Walmart an example.

I've always hated shopping. I remember dreading going to the mall before Christmas. I'd walk in the door and completely space out. I felt like I was drunk and completely forgot what I was looking for. It was borderline traumatic. Online shopping has been the greatest concept of my lifetime.

interacting with other humans. Some niche products will will continue to warrant the personal touch, but by and large, humans want price, convenience, and as no personal contact beyond the delivery guy.

is pushing and shoving in a checkout line the week before Christmas. I have compassion for my fellow humans, just not in a crowded store.

but then I don't use FB, Instagram, Tik-Tok, etc. I do use Twitter, but that was to discuss EVs and green energy, then Trump came and even that area was invaded by violent crazies.

That said, after 5 years of Trump I am now wary of people, and look for clues immediately as to whether they are sane, or one of the 70+ million people who willfully voted for a dictator. Even after this pandemic is over, I will be leery of going out into public where so many people are armed and mentally unbalanced.

to rest on his laurels. He's going to keep pushing boundaries. He's eventually going to get old and die and who knows what the inheritors will do with Amazon. But right now I wouldn't want to underestimate Jeff.

Consider that Henry Ford and Thomas Edison are long gone but Ford Motor Company and General Electric, the companies they created, are still going strong.

and did not buy one thing from Amazon. They are no longer the only game in town. All the stores have online shopping.

It is possible that it may peak and start declining but that would in no way be failure.

Online shopping has its pros and cons and this pandemic has managed to enhance its pros in many ways. It isn’t perfect but I don’t see people abandoning Amazon like this author suggests. Maybe they could lose market share to someone else but they are not going away anytime soon.

the rise of monster malls, Walmart and big box stores since the 1980s. Nobody needs that.

Give me smaller, friendlier community, city stores pre- 1980 for hardware, pharmacy, clothes, household, books, music, etc. Even department stores which have disappeared and small speciality shops, boutiques.
