More clearly than ever, we can see the anti-democratic plot TFG tried to execute

Ever since the Jan. 6 riot or insurrection or whatever you want to call it in Washington, Republicans who pledge fealty to Donald Trump have engaged in a concerted campaign to insist that the mob that overran the Capitol was just a bunch of patriots who got carried away, not a would-be militia trying to overturn an election.

This ridiculous assertion about the thousands who stormed Congress in the midst of the counting of electoral votes chanting “stop the steal!” looks especially obscene in light of new evidence confirming the depths to which Trump went to try to cling to power when it was clear he had lost the will of the voters, as fairly expressed at the ballot box.

Notes taken by then-acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue, just shared with House investigators, document Trump on Dec. 27 telling acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen to “Just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R. Congressmen,” the most explicit evidence yet that he tried to turn the Department of Justice into a tool to pry the presidency from its rightful winner.

Rosen didn’t bite — but the very next day, DOJ civil division boss Jeffrey Clark circulated a draft letter suggesting there were irregularities in the election. He was rebuffed by others in the department. So fearful were Justice Department brass that the few good guys at the top would buckle, they prepared letters of resignation.

1. How many people stopped paying attention the day the election was called?

For chrissakes, NONE of this is 'news'...Trump was open and transparent about stealing the election as far back as 2016 when he threatened to do then exactly what he did in 2020 if the votes and counting were against him.

He insisted that elections were rigged days ahead of the vote in 2016.
He insisted that elections were rigged MONTHS ahead of the vote in 2020.

He HAD help from Russians in 2016.
He SOUGHT help from Ukraine in 2020.

He lost the popular vote in 2016 and cobbled together an inside straight miracle in the EC.
He lost the popular vote in 2020 (by 2.5X as many votes) and could not bully his way to an actual rigged election.

He called governors, he called secretaries of state, he hosted election officials at the White House, he sent emissaries to state capitols, he fired people in positions that could obstruct his efforts to steal the election and most of all, he projected ALL of this onto the nation and the Democratic Party with the big lie's rally cry "Stop The Steal".

Nothing about ANY of this should be considered "bombshells" or "breaking news" or "shocking revelations"....it was all talked about in real time as it was happening and STILL the motherfucker walked after a second impeachment following January 6th.

In reality, Trump should be banned from ever again holding any trust or office under the United States until he is dead. He should be paying of millions in restitution and repairs to the Capitol for the riot HE INCITED AND GLORIED IN. He will one day roast in hell - even if that only means he will be thought to be in eternal pain in a mental lake of fire by those who survive beyond his last (hopefully imminent) breath.

The evidence has been clear FOREVER...the will to act on it, the desire to hold him and his enablers to account has been and continues to be in short supply.
