The impeachment of President Biden and other American nightmares coming in 2023 - Will Bunch

Imagine this: It’s a gray, chilly day in Washington, D.C., in March of 2023. A handful of protesters from left-leaning groups like Indivisible are huddled outside against the icy Potomac winds, but mostly there’s a climate of disbelief in the nation’s capitol as the GOP-dominated House of Representatives wraps up debate over the impeachment of Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., 46th president of the United States.

It was little more than five months since the Republicans gained 43 House seats in the 2022 midterms, many in newly gerrymandered seats, and since the incoming chair of House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, started studying a menu of equally off-the-wall options — Hunter Biden’s laptop, the Afghanistan withdrawal, or something unprecedented about the president’s mental acuity — for Biden impeachment hearings.

In the end, Jordan and his colleagues — including the radical QAnon conspiracy theorists who’d replaced GOP moderates Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger — decided that the pretext didn’t even matter that much.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy — who’d staved off a challenge to his leadership by flying to Mar-a-Lago and promising Donald Trump that Biden, just like his predecessor, would wear the stain of impeachment — delivered the closing speech and noted that Republicans had promised “to end this age of decline, and end this presidency.” A Code Pink protester burst onto the floor and screamed “Why are you doing this?!” before two burly guards dragged her out, while a handful of Trump supporters in the gallery began chanting, “Let’s Go Brandon.”

Even in Texas, they couldn't draw the lines to plan for more than gaining a couple of seats, and those are pretty marginal. A strong gubernatorial candidate could help kick that over.

Why are you dragging this crap out…

1st….. As we see, impeachment means nothing anymore. The shitstain was impeached twice, and will run again…..so…. meaningless.

2nd…… there will not be a 2/3 majority in the Senate to convict President Biden, if it happens.

It will not take 2/3 to remove.

They will vote that a simple majority to convict. Damn the Constitution.

On to the SC which will allow them to complete the Fascist takeover of America.

requiring a two thirds vote of all of the states. Not possible.

We have the power to stop this, Democrats. It's time to light the fire and get it going.

With a fascist takeover of the government, the Constitution will be of no value anymore.

Another blue wave has swept the country in November of 2022, giving the Democrats an additional 15 house seats and a full five seat senate majority, guaranteeing the end of the filibuster, at least three more Supreme Court justices, adding to the infrastructure bill, passage of a sweeping slate of voter rights bills nullifying state voter suppression laws and a federal mandate for schools to teach Critical Race Theory or lose their federal school funding.

Instead of whining and complaining and bemoaning, let's do something about it. The Democratic party is about to have its most sweeping legislative successes in less than a year of a President's first term since Roosevelt.

Your version of the future is the only one I want my children to experience. But if we never discuss substantive options to turn around the polling trend in the next 12 months, I fear the future will be closer to the one in the OP.
