Millions of Angry, Armed Americans Stand Ready to Seize Power If Trump Loses in 2024
snip - The phenomenon goes well beyond the growth of militias, which have been a feature of American life at least since the Ku Klux Klan rose to power after the Civil War. Groups like the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, which took part in the January 6th riot at the Capitol and may have played organizational roles, have grown in membership. Law enforcement has long tracked and often infiltrated these groups.

(1,604 posts)I don't fear the militias. What I fear is that the polarization that has become endemic in this country is not going to subside, and too many wealthy entrenched interests (foreign and domestic) see splitting the country apart as being better than losing their privileges and wealth. I also am beginning to believe that it really doesn't matter much what happens to Trump, and indeed, there's probably a contingent among the MAGAts that are hoping that he keels over before 2024 so that he becomes a martyr to the cause. We're being pushed into a second civil war.

(6,291 posts)one's losses or inequalities is the standard M.O. of right-wingers. (Dark-skinned immigrants are stealing your jobs and health care!)
Now this may be obvious, but our democracy broken will collapse the economy and all parts of it: health systems, finance, energy, fair trade, transportation, food and goods distribution, tourism and more. They think inflation is bad now?? There will be nothing gained for these right-wing terrorists. Any "new" gov't won't be run by honorable people like the framers of our U.S. Constitution.
Republican politicians have been too busy campaigning or doing investigations while letting lobbyists write legislation when they've been in power, to remember and actually know what it takes to run a gov't that it's people can thrive in.
Citizens who are struggling and barely surviving will bring us to actual third-world status. We will be sold out to multi-nationals.
The revolution following this next "anti-tyranny" revolution ( if it comes) will takes us further to fascism or to advanced socialism.
"Everything Trump Touches Dies" (by Rick Wilson) - I'm seriously afraid that will include our democracy.
The orange goon really needed to die of natural causes, yesterday.

(3,888 posts)such as "What tyranny?" Having to live with the political administration that the majority elected is NOT tyranny. Either define the word so we have some idea of what you're talking about or shut up and live with the consequences of the election results, since this is a democracy and you had the same opportunity I did to vote. Point to a single instance that would meet the definition of the kind of tyranny faced by the Americans who launched the Revolution, just one. One.
What is Biden doing to "desstroy the country?" Enacting policies that are driving down unemployment, super-charging the economy and helping business and families recover from the pandemic? When the majority elects a politician and he or she then does what they were elected to do, that's not "destroying the country." Trump was doing that, not Biden.
Don't make something up like Fox News, Newsmax or Breitbart. And don't quote them as a source since that means you can't come up with a real example of tyranny.
