Instead of White Christian Nationalism, here's where the Christian Church should be influencing

American culture and society.

https://signalpress.blogspot.com/2022/07/where-christian-church-should-be.html

Christian practice cannot be legislated into acceptance. If it isn't motivated by the inward spiritual transformation that occurs in conversion, then it becomes dead ritual. If it is visible, then the practice of values like honesty and integrity, sense of community and purpose that includes a lifestyle of simplicity, avoiding excess and being good stewards of common resources, having a desire for the common good, the equality, giftedness and inherent rights of all humanity and living a life that promotes peace, are the influences Christianity contributes to society and culture, as well as government in a democratic union. If it does not do this, then it is not Christian.

1. If it does not do as is well outlined in the paragraph, it is not Religion

If one's Religion reveals the truth that results in one being 'at-one' with the world around, the name of the tradition, founder, path does not matter.
Religion is the way to "at-one-ment". Atonement is the state of being attuned to the flow, force, dharma, Tao, --
-- "The tune, man! Groovy; ya gotta 'grok' it, man."

2. Raushenbush: Christian nationalism a threat to democracy

No, it's a threat to Christianity, by polluting it with

• a drive for secular power/coercion,
• alignment with oligarchs, who find Christian virtues as taught by Christ, most inconvenient,
• alignment with politicians, who cherry pick, distort and weaponize teachings, and
• racism, the force that exploits, and sometimes creates differences among people, like charges building up to create lightning.

This was going along predictably, especially the anti-communist part, until recent times when Russian influence showed up.

I go over ideas in earlier posts:

“Democracy in Crisis: We’ve Been Headed Here for Decades.” Part 1of 8

Read all 8 to get the "plan" in detail.
This is all a Russian plan. Started years ago.

But the short of it is that the quest for secular power has corrupted, weakened, and can destroy the spirit of Christianity,
in my eyes, a deal with the Devil.

And this isn't the answer:

Saint Dominic Presiding over an Auto-da-fe (1475) by Pedro Berruguete (1450–1504)
In late-20th century America, with its extreme separation of church and state, it is hard to imagine that there was a time when heresy was considered not only an ecclesiastical crime, but a secular one too. However, during the Middle Ages, church and state were often united in the cause of maintaining social order. During Medieval times, it was often difficult to distinguish between the secular and the ecclesiastical – Catholic bishops installed emperors and kings; those same emperors and kings provided protection for the church and its ministers. To rebel against the church (either in matters of theology or matters of organizational hierarchy) was to question the legitimacy of the whole social, political, economic, and (of course) religious structure of medieval society. The Inquisition, which lasted for 600 years, was the product of a tight (and very successful) marriage of church and state. The church hunted down and prosecuted heretics, and the state punished them, often by burning at the stake.
