Lack of Constitutional Understanding Disqualifies Congresswoman Boebert
https://signalpress.blogspot.com/2022/08/congresswoman-boeberts-lack-of.htmlRepresentative Lauren Boebert told a church in her home state of Colorado, "The church is supposed to direct the government, the government is not supposed to direct the church. That is not how our founding fathers intended it. And I'm tired of this separation of church and state junk. It's not in the constitution."
She got it wrong, of course. But the church gave her a standing ovation, making them just as wrong as she was. Personally, I think she should be held to a higher level of accountability for demonstrating such ignorance of the constitution as an elected official who should know better. But this is an egregious example of an ideology that has made its way into the Christian faith across the board in most of its American denominational, and non-denominational, expressions.
I think that anyone who wants to run for public office at any level, and especially for Congress, should be required to answer every question correctly on a constitution exam. If they can't, then they are disqualified from seeking their party's nomination. If becoming a member of Congress requires an oath of loyalty to defend the constitution, then everyone taking the oath should have an understanding of the constitution.

(16,564 posts)There is stupid, there is extremely stupid, and there is embarrassingly stupid. Boebert is all of the above and then some. Everyone who voted for her should be massively embarrassed that they sent this moron to represent them in Washington. But anyone stupid enough to vote for her is probably too stupid to realize what an embarrassingly stupid moron she is.

(11,389 posts)Boebert is not at all alone in holding such beliefs. In fact - they have become relatively commonplace in many christian denominations. The U.S. as a 'christian nation' - is not only an article of faith, but literally a point of fact for many. And, more recently, they simply reject any assertion of a 'wall' or 'separation.'

(316 posts)The Orange One just makes up things as he goes along, the criteria being, whatever he thinks will make him appear smart and clever, his inadequate ego needs constant propping up. Trump's knowledge base consists of vague recollections of things he learned in the 3rd grade. His followers, are naturally, dumber than him or just corrupt souls with the morals of a throat cutting thief.

(3,894 posts)her statement shows she lacks understanding about the mission and purpose of the Christian church according to its own doctrine and theology. She is like most Christians, in that they don't know their own doctrine, but just parrot what some popular media preacher claims. If she had any understanding at all of the gospel of Christ, she wouldn't have said what she did.
