Closing out 2022, Trump has supplanted Nixon as the saddest figure in post-presidential politics

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/column-closing-out-2022-trump-has-supplanted-nixon-as-the-saddest-figure-in-post-presidential-politics/ar-AA15HIl4?pc=U483&cvid=9554d6ba70a04dd6934a79907fa14b68

The key difference is that Nixon’s hunger for respect was tempered by a reciprocal respect, admittedly flawed, for the presidency, his party, the country and for those closest to him. Nixon spared them all the ordeal of impeachment; Trump was impeached twice, then ran again, lost, and then tried to steal the presidency. He recently called for the suspension of the Constitution to reinstall him, because no impediment to his self-glorification deserves respect.

Nixon’s struggle was complicated because he was complicated. Trump’s struggle is simple because he is simple: All he is is appetite — for fame, power, sex, admiration — shorn of any interior life and unencumbered by exterior attachments.

These two paragraphs are near the end of the article.

I have said since TFG's first impeachment that I thought TFG made Nixon look like a Girl Scout, but obviously I was referring to their behavior while in office.

Since being ejected from the White House, I think it's absolutely true that TFG's post-presidential life is more pathetic than anything anyone could have imagined. And it hasn't even been 2 full years since he got the boot.

Nixon was capable of a sense of shame and propriety. He WENT AWAY and SHUT UP.

Trump is not capable of any of that and the MSM never shuts stops giving him oxygen.

he knew the difference.

Trump, despite having an undergraduate degree, does not have a disciplined mind, which one normally acquires through education.
Trump operates on an instinctual level, whereby his appetites- greed, selfishness, pride, etc. dominate and activate him.

Nixon wanted to avoid impeachment and to stop further damage to his image.
Not for any noble cause, but self preservation.

He wanted to preserve a chance to repair his reputation.

It shows us that Nixon wanted to be seen as a decent person, whether he was one or not.

Trump is different. He wants to win at any cost. Does not want to be seen as a loser.
He is proud of winning at any price. Only fools are decent and law abiding.
Only smart people like himself can break the law and get away with it, etc.

He is still out and about. Being crude and despicable, and still grifting like never before. And don't forget his Spawn and her Master Grifter Jared...........

And he still has tens of millions of followers, hanging on every fucked up word he drivels out of his rectum shaped lips........

The Republicans deep down in the shadows want to get rid of him like yesterday, but they haven't figured out a way to obliterate him without alienating his voters, so are happy to let the Dems do their dirty work of going after them. That way, the Republicans stay out of the fray and hopefully will get his voters by default when the DEMS take him down and out of the ludicrous power he still wields......

And even worse is the fact that people in the know say that DeSantis is the Golden Boy of the future Republican party, and he is evidently capable of far worse things than Trump ever dreamed of exacting on the U.S. of A.

All in all, the Republicans remain one millimeter away from establishing a Corporate Fascist Tyranny. Creating a 1% population of upper-upper class, and a population of 99% lower-lower class of serfs and peasants..........
