Think Obama's a Muslim? Then you're too stupid to vote

... My colleague Jim Rainey reported Friday on a Pew Research Center Forum on Religion and Public Life survey released Thursday showing that just 49% of Americans described the president as a Christian, while 17% said they believed he was Muslim.
And, though I hate to cast aspersions, this tidbit isnt surprising: While Pew found in October 2008 that 16% of Republicans (and the same percentage of conservative Republicans) called Obama a Muslim, the most recent survey found 30% of Republicans and 34% of conservative Republicans said it was so ...
... if Republicans want me to produce a photo ID to prove Im the same person whos been voting for four decades, then Democrats have the right to demand some basic level of intelligence from the other side.
Really, it shouldnt be that hard ...

(62,325 posts)I don't get the defensive reaction to racists using religion and/or ethnicity to score political points. My response to anyone who 'accuses' the President of 'being Muslim' is 'and would there something wrong that if it were true'? That forces them to reveal their stupid, hateful racism, and/or if they don't want to be seen as racist, to say 'well, no, I'm not saying that, BUT etc. etc.
Put THEM on the defensive. I am sick of allowing the bullies of the world to put us on the defensive.
Just keep asking the question 'so why would that be a problem'?
Racists should never be given power. By becoming defensive when they launch their racist charges, we give them power. Flush them out and make them explain their hatred.

(1,628 posts)It's important to expose these miscreants, who follow politicians who are more like preachers.
Once you shine the light on them, they scurry like the roaches they are. Like the Lt. Gov. of Fla. That apology that she liberated from her mind is absolute bullshit. So, i'm starting to think that the light isn't bright enough.

(1,628 posts)I'm sorry, I'm kind of a newbie to the whole online forum thing and just wanted to express my opinion on politician's religious afflications. I'll think twice before posting, haha. Apology accepted, though. And to the user who welcomed me, thank you very much

Evidence is everywhere.
Especially in the Right's voter base...
