Pass Extreme Bike Law or You Hate Life

We’re a nation of hyperboles. Nearly any position can be boil down to the other side disrespecting life. The pro-life crowd does it all the time. Fine. But what about when that fetus becomes a cyclist? Should we not do all that we can to protect the sanctity of life, especially when that grownup fetus is trying to share the road with vehicles going 45mph, armed with nothing more than a plastic helmet? Of course!

Proposed Law? joebaur42 Aug 2012 #3
Because the law at issue is actually quite mild, the law proposed quite extreme, both are conflated CreekDog Aug 2012 #4

Apologies, but how is the proposed law not as the blogger describes if the blogger is making the proposed law up from scratch? Unless there's already a proposed "extreme bike law" we're not aware of.

so it's confusing.

one is a tactic for the issues of cyclist safety (and I'm a big supporter of greater use and better protections for cyclists in urban areas especially)

the other is about campaign tactics as a way to win support. but I have a feeling calling people killers is not the way to win them over. oh, if almost have of them consider those who oppose bike laws "killers", then you might be onto something (to carry your comparison to pro-life tactics).

but since almost nobody who opposes strict cyclist safety laws is considered anything like a "baby killer", the idea that you will do anything but make your movement unpopular and "crank-ish" is crazy.

ps-I think bike lanes should be done in a way safer for cyclists:

|car lane| |parking lane| |bike lane| |curb|

and I would combine this with changes to traffic signals to prevent pedestrians and cyclists from being overtaken by cars in crosswalks.
