The real Republican rape platform
The real Republican rape platform
It's no accident GOP candidates can't stop talking about rape: the party view is women are mere vessels subject to men's will
Jill Filipovic
guardian.co.uk, Thursday 25 October 2012
Dear GOP candidates and party members,
I'm going to give you some free campaign advice: stop talking about rape.
The latest Republican rape commentary comes from Romney-endorsed Indiana senatorial candidate Richard Mourdock, who tells us:
"I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen."
Cue outrage, then cue "apology" from Mourdock not for his comments, but for "any interpretation other than what I intended". National Republican senatorial committee chairman John Cornyn voiced his support for Mourdock and added that he also believes "life is a gift from God." ...................(more)

(5,043 posts)1. Bottom line: GOP would like ANY man to have the RIGHT to force ANY woman to carry his child.
Sure the rape itself may be illegal, but once the deed is done, there's nothing she can do about it (or there wouldn't be if they had their way).
And note that's "GOP", not "GOD" as they seem to believe.

(11 posts)2. Rape vs. In Vitro
Jon Stewart just had a segment saying that according to a bill that Ryan proposed (or supported / co-signed?) that pregnancy by in vitro would be illegal, but carrying to term pregnancy by rape would be mandatory.

It's like climate change and environmental issues.
But what if Roe V Wade was over turned?
And abortion was made illegal in all 50 states?
Can you imagine?
The RW hypocrites would be stuck with paternity suits, embarrassment, humiliation.
