A Hostile Takeover of Our Country-Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

29 October 12

"I have no problem characterizing these corporate-centric super-PACs as treasonous. We are now in a free fall toward old-fashioned oligarchy; noxious, thieving and tyrannical.

With the media in their hands, and unlimited money, the final strategy of Rove, Koch, the Chamber of Commerce, and others of that ilk is to permanently cripple representative democracy by stopping Americans from voting.

A boatload of new Jim Crow laws target Democrats by erecting impediments that deter poor and minority communities, senior citizens, and students from exercising their franchise.

Voter suppression is a crime."

The current campaign financing laws will have to be changed by the very people (politicians) who are benefiting from the laws. Sadly, it takes more faith in humanity than I have to expect those politicians to vote to cut off their own funding.

BILL MOYERS: Here's a significant revelation of which you may not be aware. The plutocrats know it and love it, and the rest of us should be forewarned. When the Supreme Court made its infamous Citizens United decision, liberating plutocrats to buy our elections fair and square, the justices may have effectively overturned rules that kept bosses from ordering employees to do political work on company time. Election law expert Trevor Potter told us that now "corporations argue that it is a constitutionally protected use of corporate ‘resources' to order employees to do political work or attend campaign events - even if the employee opposes the candidate, or is threatened with being fired for failure to do what the corporation asks."

I never thought of that but I can see how it could happen. Most job descriptions include a phrase like “and other duties as assigned” .
Scarry thought

protests, have never pursued the topic any further. The Right-Wingers
know that they can get away with voter suppression without ever being
paying any consequences. So they are taking bolder and bolder steps. ,
They are gaining bigger strides, too.

Whether they realize it or not, Democrats, with their gutless and ineffectual protests, are aiding and abetting in these crimes.
