Sound ridiculous? That's because you have a functioning brain.

The link to the story is below, but here's what you need to know - There is a treaty that's been in the works at the UN for years to crack down on international gun trafficking and illegal arms sales (that end up in the hands of terrorists and so on). It is literally supported by almost every single country in the world.

Well, apparently this may hurt the profits of American gun and arms makers, so the NRA got its puppets in the right wing media to attack, and somehow turn it into a hilarious story about how Obama is going to use this to erase the 2nd amendment and take your guns. Not only will this help to pressure Congress to not support the treaty, it also lends itself to the ongoing fear campaign that has led to record gun sales since President Blackenstein took office.

Anyway, the story ends with yet another giant, monstrous lie that while it can be disproven in 10 seconds and an Internet connection, has been believed as gospel in the bubble for 4 years;

"Barack Obama is no doubt the most anti-gun president in the history of the United States and his pandering to the corrupt UN should be alarming to anyone who wants to keep their Second Amendment freedoms."

It's pretty clear that the right didn't learn a thing from the election, and will continue to use lies and fear to build their zombie voting base. This bodes well for progressives.

1. I got in an long raging battle with people over this on FB

There was a picture of Hillary with big bold type, urging people to sign the petition to stop Hillary and Obama from eliminating the 2d Amendment. There were THOUSANDS of responses, almost all in outrage at Obama and Hillary Clinton. These people have absolutely no capacity for logic. I tried to explain how our Constitution works, and that Obama can't simply cede an amendment to the UN...it doesn't work that way. Tried to explain the majority of states it would take to ratify any change to Constitution, but nope -- Obama has already eliminated most of our Constitutional rights without going to Congress, so he'll do this, too.

The right-wing and Tea Baggers are frighteningly ignorant. Stupid. Fearful of everything they don't understand.

2. Unfotunately, my cousin

who I love dearly, believes all of this BS, hook, line and sinker. He's convinced that the Pres has an agenda to take his gun. His military daughter is buying into this too, which truly saddens me.
