It explains how US media brainwashed the US public.

Without an awareness of the grave consequences involved with an increasingly concentrated media environment the public (i.e. non-elites) will continue to be systematically brainwashed by the propagandist arm of the government that is the mass media and will unknowingly acquiesce to the interests of the dominant elites.

1. It deserves to be noted that the US public was very agreeable to being brainwashed.

I remember being absoutely dumbfounded at the eagerness with which the self-serving bullshit shovelled out starting with Raygun was bolted down by an adoring citizenry. G. H. W. Bush himself took time to adjust to the new reality, he started out calling it "Voodoo Economics", and he was right.

Before Reagan's election, supply side policy was considered unconventional by the moderate wing of the Republican Party. While running against Reagan for the Presidential nomination in 1980, George H. W. Bush had derided Reaganomics as "voodoo economics".[5] Similarly, in 1976, Gerald Ford had severely criticized Reagan's proposal to turn back a large part of the Federal budget to the states. Reagan's policies have since become widely accepted by many Republicans.

4. Good to know that others think it really started under Reagan.

In Bill Casey's very first speech to CIA recruits, after being made head of CIA, he stated "Our mission is to see that 100% of what every American believes over the next thirty years is a lie."

I am paraphrasing, but not much off the mark of what he stated.

And now we are there. People refuse to believe that if it is "on TV" then it could possibly be false.

And it doesn't matter the level of education either. I have had friends with PhD's tell me that George W's actions were not dangerously approaching fascism, as I claimed, because "after all, if a leader was taking us down a road to fascism, the media would alert us."

Unfortunately there are still millions who believe the propaganda and don't even know what it is. It's be great if there were courses in middle or high school that addressed propaganda and exactly what it is but that's just me dreaming.
