Nance Greggs: A WORD, If I May?
A word with Richard The Dick Cheney:
You recently made the following statement on the Sean Hannity Show:
I watched Benghazi with great interest, Sean, and I think it is one of worst incidents, frankly, that I can recall in my career.
Really, dick? Apparently your memory of the events youve seen over the span of your career is faulty at best, or you are yet again engaging in a deliberate, self-serving attempt to catapult the propaganda your administration was famous for.
I would think (as would most people, Im sure) that lying a nation into war might stand out in ones memory as one of the worst incidents to be recalled in ones career especially when one was actually the author of those lies.
Let me refresh your memory as to what YOU are responsible for and maybe you can explain your faulty memory to the following:
Every soldier who lost his or her life fighting a war based on your lies.
Every child growing up without a mom or a dad, because a parent never made it home from their tour.
Every mother and father who grieves the loss of a son or daughter who died on a battlefield created for your political goals...

(27,985 posts)Her writing style reminds me of Molly Ivins but angrier. And why the hell shouldn't she be angrier?

(83,751 posts)That has to be the best take down ever! Well said.
Thank you, Nance.

(27,985 posts)It's fledgling compared to here but you get regular Nance Rants. She and I do not share all of the same exact views but her writing is so beautiful and evocative that I rarely miss what she has to say. It just occurred to me that I should start crossposting her over here. Others do but I never think of it.
She's as good as she ever was but there was a coordinated attack against her here (happened to Will Pitt, too, but man, he just keeps coming back). The attack was unfair but I do wish she had chosen to let it flow over her. But, that being said, at least she came back to her writing. I'll have to admit I don't remember (did I know?) what her day job is, but she is an inordinately talented writer, says the hack who uses to many superfluous words.
You know, it's funny, I like the Rude Pundit too, but for entirely different reasons. He's not a great writer, but after one of his rants, I just feel as mad as he does. But it's weird to me that he became so famous and as of now, Nance isn't. Nor, Will Pitt, well not as famous as he should be.
There's time.
LittleGirl
(8,287 posts)so I could visit her 'rants' more frequently. I spend more time here than anywhere on the internet and I'm thankful that I found this place.
The internet is full of cruel writers, indeed.

(27,985 posts)I can neither confirm nor deny that Nance may still lurk here, but her work is published on the site that is posted in the OP. Our loss, truly.
freshwest
(53,661 posts)Yes, it a loss, but a number of folks have left and formed at least three websites that are doing well that I know of now. Not talking about the tree gang, either.

(27,985 posts)I read her blog frequently and now that I've been reminded, I'm going to put her on one of my main page tiles (Mozilla) just as I have Rude Pundit and of course DU.
I remember when a posse got together to run her out of the community. It was bullying, and many who are pro or semi pro writers here have had the same coordinated attacks. She got fed up with the bullshit as we all do from time to time. A real shame.
But if having her own website is better for her than here and there is great likelihood that it is, I say more power to her.

(24,544 posts)You're absolutely right. She put up as good as she got for a looong time but eventually got tired of being on diaper duty and left.
I am 100% sure that DemocratsforProgress is not Nance though. We haven't seen NanceGreggs on DU in a long time though she did post in the BOG a few times last year, I believe.

(27,985 posts)I was under the impression she created DFP. Am I confused?
Please PM me the others. I'm in no imminent danger of leaving DU, but I'd love to explore. I keep hoping for a Socialist Underground. I caucus with Democrats but my years here have taught me that the Democratic party at this juncture, is not one which stands for my values - socialism with a small pinch of anarchy appears to be my home. Of course, I'm not going to play the third party card unless it catches a wave.

(6,187 posts)The PATRIOT act, TSA, warrantless this that and the other, cost plus contracting, Iraq, you know the list. Cheney and most of the rest of the PNAC crew profited both financially and politically as a result of 9/11 and other events of similar ilk.
Benghazi on the other hand, depspite all the hype, is barely finding traction as a distraction. So of course for him, it is the worst such event in his career.

(545 posts)You might want to read the entire piece:
Add to the above every Iraqi mother who watched her child killed or maimed due to your lies, or cradles a baby born with horrific birth defects thanks to your endless pursuit of carnage at any cost.
Every Iraqi father who was made to stand helplessly as he saw his son dragged off to Abu Ghraib, or cried hopelessly as his traumatized daughter described the violence she witnessed and endured.
Every Iraqi citizen who saw their beautiful country systematically destroyed, their culture spat upon, their priceless art stolen, their invaluable archaeological treasures pillaged, their revered ancient sites reduced to rubble.
Every Iraqi child who was orphaned, every school that was leveled, every hospital that was blown out of existence, every business that was shuttered, every citizen who had his religious beliefs disgraced, every man, woman and child who watched their homeland decimated while you masturbated to the sounds of shock and awe.
Every man or woman who was imprisoned, every man or woman who was tortured; every potential ally who was turned into a potential terrorist, bent on revenge against all Americans for what was done to their people, under your direction, in Americas name...

(297,196 posts)dick is such an arrogant prick. Knowing full well that he's flaunting his vicious ass in the face of a reality based Nation.. and knowing full damn well that he gets cover from fox screws(dennis' new place of business) to "catapult" his brand of sneering umbrage at the Obama Admin. MF.

tavalon
(27,985 posts)I am so bugged that sociopathy has been replaced by psychopathy. To me psychopathy meant a very light or virtually no connection to consensual reality. Sociopathy meant someone who lacked empathy but often could still function in society. You would be surprised at the number of non empathetics who have found ways of being useful and productive in this society.
Cheney, the Shrub, C.Rice, and many more in that administration exhibited what I still call sociopathy, even though it isn't standard use.
snappyturtle
(14,656 posts)almost as equals although they are not. I chose psychopathy
because I believe Cheney is the worst and truly evil as he has
mastered feigning concern for the country to mask his deeds.
