Are you more or less "Liberal" than President Obama?
Yeah yeah...I know. Some of the right answers weren't even listed. That was one of the interesting aspects of this short quiz. After all, what did you expect from the Christian Monitor?

(36,392 posts)- ending wars, SP health care, no cuts to SS and Medicare, pro-labor, close Gitmo, more transparent government. Also that puts me far to the left of President Obama, who is much closer to Boner than he is to Grayson and the real Dems.

So when are YOU going to lend this great nation YOUR real Democrat talent?

I expected to come up as a lefty and more liberal than President Obama - was quite surprised to see the other verbage in that result!

(31,849 posts)President Obama is a Democrat in Democratic clothing. The spectrum of the Democratic party does not have you as its center.

(1,183 posts)That is not the first time that I have read that Obama is a moderate Republican; or, an Eisenhower Republican or a Rockefeller Republican.
I have read both of those.
The GOP does not appear to believe that.

I would not vote for Ralph Nader!

(36,392 posts)all of DU will turn out to be more liberal than the president. Hopefully we can put aside the fantasy that he is somehow a mainstream Dem
Owing to the fact that my views are basically congruent with Obama, I guess that means that I am not a 'mainstream Dem ' either. I do not have a problem with that.
Even though I am outside the Democratic Party mainstream, I will continue to vote for Democrats, as I always have.
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)the DU is not representative of the Democratic Party. Right? In fact, no on-line community would be.
The vast majority of people that vote Democratic are no where near as partisan as DU.
I am a moderate liberal. And, I am not more liberal than Obama; I am about as liberal as he is.
I guess that puts me out of the Democratic party mainstream.

Doctor_J
(36,392 posts)he is a conservative corporatist (more conservative than Ronald Reagan) who abandoned all of the populist rhetoric of his campaign. For example, around 80% of Dems believe that HC is a right. He does not. That places him in the most conservative fifth of the party. A vast percentage of Dems believe that public schools should be strengthened. Obama wants to make all schools private. More than 80% of Dems believe that SS and Medicare should be grown. The president offered to cut them.
He is not even close to the center of the party - he is in fact closer to the center of the Republican party, if there is such a thing.

(36,392 posts)Their political views are in sync. Then there's Duncan and Rhee, who also want to give the public schools to profiteers.
And that's just one issue. most Dems are against torture and rendition. In favor of closing Gitmo. Against domestic spying. Against KeystoneXL. Against TPP. Want the minimum waged raised. Want SP HC. The president is more Republican than the majority of Dems on every single one of these issues.

(17,064 posts)So I'd put Obama somewhat equal to Ford and Poppy Bush....slightly more "liberal" than Reagan and Bush the Lesser. LBJ is the most liberal President in my lifetime. I am more liberal than LBJ.

I am told that I am out of the Democratic party mainstream. And, that Obama is, in fact, a moderate Republican.

(3,109 posts)But I am realistic. If HRC runs in 16 I will support her as my first choice. 2008 knocked the arrogance out of her, she won't take it for granted. Plus, she now has executive experience as SoS. She is our most ready and tested candidate. I don't think there are any potential Repub candidates who could go up against her and win. That said, I am far more liberal than Hillary. Considering the alternative, I'll take it.

Bull shit. We should leave now. They don't want us there and we only serve to destabilize the region further by our presence.

(10,745 posts)Congratulations! You're more liberal than President Obama!
You're proudly toeing the liberal line, canvas tote bag and all. You've probably been frustrated with President Obama's policies on more than one occasion, especially when he compromises with Republicans. You probably miss the Clinton years, and may have even been a Hillary supporter in '08.
And there ya go.
