they talked about how innovation would free us up for personal/family time..and work hours would be shared/lowered and we would all be better off...

Yeah, right....THEN GREED TOOK OVER

remember the talk about the paperless office? Hell, now it is so easy to generate documents that we probably have more paperwork than ever.

large ledger paper for our month end reports and for our 5 year long range forecasts..it would take a week, and trust me..there were not many copies for everyone....only the upper, upper echelon got copies, now, with excel, we could punch it out in a day or two and print copies for everyone in the office...on cheap copy paper..yes, paperless indeed!

Also, when only women (or mostly) used typewriters for everything, no one heard of carpel tunnel, or repeat motion syndrome, but when men began using computers regularly..it became an epidemic...

I love men, which has been my downfall I am old now, so not so much
