Yes, I saw adults cry during those 4 days in November for the first time ever... We lost much more than a president 50 years ago

(15,774 posts)living in Ft Worth Texas. We were rehearsing a Thanksgiving play. Everyone was a buzz about the Presidential visit. An office worker came in and told the teacher. I just remember her face going totally white and she tried to keep her composure while we practiced.
It was so somber and quite. At dismissal, I went to the car and I could tell that Mom had been crying. We stopped at a convenience store on the way home and she had me go in to get some Kleenex. Every adult I saw had red rimmed eyes or sobbing into a handkerchief. That is what scared me the most-the adult reactions.
And was I ever glad it happened in Dallas and not Fort Worth.

A few minutes later, Mrs. Price returned and told us our President had been shot. She was crying.
