50 years ago I saw adults cry..

I thought this post would be too big for D.U, so here is link to my memoir. I was only 9 years old at the time and this my impressions of that day...

I was 10 and living in DC. JFK was my hero and nothing said or written about his 'flaws' will ever change how he inspired me as a child.

Yes, I saw adults cry during those 4 days in November for the first time ever... We lost much more than a president 50 years ago

living in Ft Worth Texas. We were rehearsing a Thanksgiving play. Everyone was a buzz about the Presidential visit. An office worker came in and told the teacher. I just remember her face going totally white and she tried to keep her composure while we practiced.

It was so somber and quite. At dismissal, I went to the car and I could tell that Mom had been crying. We stopped at a convenience store on the way home and she had me go in to get some Kleenex. Every adult I saw had red rimmed eyes or sobbing into a handkerchief. That is what scared me the most-the adult reactions.

And was I ever glad it happened in Dallas and not Fort Worth.

and got her sight back. Apparently the tears and emotion corrected her problem.

The intercom came on and called all the teachers down to the principal's office. My classmates and I sat quietly, staring at each other, wondering what was going on.

A few minutes later, Mrs. Price returned and told us our President had been shot. She was crying.
