Hallucinations of Scott Walker's grandeur

http://host.madison.com/ct/news/opinion/editorial/hallucinations-of-scott-walker-s-grandeur/article_9a10d7fa-8702-543d-ba3e-11bfa8c94003.html

In his amusingly titled new book, “Unintimidated,” Scott Walker claims that the cure for what ails America can be found with Republican governors.

Especially, the 2016 Republican presidential aspirant suggests, with a particular Republican governor: Wisconsin’s Scott Walker.

The conservative “intelligentsia” — well aware that Washington Republicans have rendered themselves unsuitable for public consumption — have seized on the notion. George Will has even written a column in which he embraces the most absurd of Walker’s claims. As far as Will is concerned: “Most books by incumbent politicians are not worth the paper they never should have been written on. If, however, enough voters read Walker’s nonfiction thriller, it will make him a — perhaps the — leading candidate for his party’s 2016 presidential nomination.”

Like a committed Flat Earth Society member who implores you to consider the level surface on his map, Will picks up on one of Walker’s actual arguments: “Outside the Washington beltway, big-government liberals are on the ropes.” Why? According to Walker, it's because Republican governors have been so successful at getting their states in shape.

Will adores this notion. And he is quite certain that the American people do as well.
