Bitcoin Is Apparently A Rich, White, Male Disaster

The Huffington Post | by Mark Gongloff

Here's more proof that women make better investors than men: It's quite likely that almost no women lost any Bitcoins in the great Mt. Gox meltdown of 2014.

That's because almost no women own Bitcoins at all, according to a new online survey of Bitcoin users by Simulacrum, the blog of Lui Smyth, a researcher at University College London. About 93 percent of the crypto-currency's users are male, according to Smyth's latest survey, which is still ongoing. This survey hasn't yet hit a representative sample, but last year's survey of 1,000 users came up with a 95-percent male demographic.

<snip>

The average Bitcoin user is "a 32.1 year old libertarian male," according to the 2013 survey, with 44 percent of users describing themselves as "libertarian/anarcho-capitalist." And libertarian/anarcho-capitalists tend to be white men, other studies have shown.

I'm not armed today, but I feel pretty safe. I feel like I've got a a private security detail out there...

That is being pushed by the unwitting and by those who may know what they're doing. The outrage is generated, with no solutions ever offered.

They're supporting Rand Paul's solution by doing that. And that is what the Zimmies and Dunns are bringing to us.

Armed people intimidating others, in the name of freedom and liberty while giving others no freedom or liberty to live their lives in peace.

The GOP's Banana Republic ideology is not, and never has been, part of the Democratic Party.

Aren't they the branch of Teapublicans that keep complaining that the FED makes Fiat currency?

Another (computer) forum I hang out at has a lot of "miners". They even have their own sub-forum, and yes most of them are Libertarians. And do they spout stupid shit.

But, the worst thing about these miners is they are causing a shortage of AMD based video cards because the AMD cards mine much better than Nvidia based ones. This has driven the prices sky high. Top end cards whose MSRP for $549 have been selling as high as $999 at some etailers. What is worse is some people have been paying these prices. I can't wait until their whole "bubble" bursts.
