The Rowan Tree - political novel - free for Kindle

I recently published a political/philosophical novel called The Rowan Tree. It sends an Obama-like protagonist around the world and into the White House in a modern update of the Arthurian Legend. Since my chief goal was to convey ideas about political education and democracy, the ebook version of the novel is available for free on Kindle and Smashwords:

Kindle: http://amzn.com/B00B0NH3Y2

Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/274143

Also my own memoir, which gives some context for the novel, is available for free on Smashwords:

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/379190

Also, if anyone knows of a good forum to announce political books, please let me know.

The old "physicist turned novelist" ploy, eh? Good luck with it and I will check it out.

if I can pull it off!

The Rowan Tree is the only novel I have in me. Now that I've said what I've had to say, I can only hope there are a few people who will be interested enough to read it.

Thank you for giving it a try.

I only wish I could offer the paperback and audio versions for free as well. Alas, those have production costs and Amazon sets a minimum price based on page-length.

I am trying to make my memoir Belonging free on Kindle as well, but apparently more people have to request a "price match" with the free version on Smashwords. If anyone wants to help with that endeavor:

I probably won't get to it seriously before Monday, though I might get a few pages read while eating over the weekend.

If I like it and think my readers would enjoy it, I will post links (if you want me to, of course) on my own web pages. I have millions of readers worldwide (and especially here in the US), so if I do link on most of my hundreds of articles on my 10 public websites, you should get some good exposure.

It's been difficult to find places where I can let people know about The Rowan Tree. The places with the most readers tend to be dedicated to a particular genre such as Mystery or Science Fiction. If anyone knows of a good niche for political novels, please let me know!

This comment is correcting a double-post. I hesitated to deleted because "self-delete" implied the entire thread would be deleted.

However I love to get free ebooks from Project Gutenberg and it is a bit of a nuisance to do the workaround getting theirs onto Amazon's proprietary Kindle. Doable, though -- I just go through my computer. I was tempted to upgrade to a niftier Kindle, but Gutenberg has put a review by their webmaster of the Kindle Fire on their front page -- apparently Amazon has designed it to be even more proprietary than ever: the workaround is nearly impossible. So I'll stick with my original one, supplemented by my iPad Mini that I got for my b'day last year. Downloads from Gutenberg are super easy on it.

What a moment for you, though -- downloading your own novel! Congrats.

I've run into some problems with Kindle's dependence on a WiFi connection. For instance, my local library's ebook collection seems to be browser-dependent. I can read ebooks in the library (though the browser frequently crashes), but I don't have the ebook at my disposal once I leave the library.

Access to the Gutenberg collection is a sheer delight, though!
