Related: About this forum4:50 of Ted Cruz's disrespectful (and McCarthy-esque) exchange with Eric Holder
Who (WHY?!) is the staffer in the frame? that is pure TV.
Cruz sounds and looks like Joe McCarthy (drunk - WI).
Oh, Cruz is one of the "bright stars in the Tea Party movement"....problem is he can't be on the national ticket
Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

(25,327 posts)Cruz is despicable. He's out to give a harass anyone on team Obama for no reason.
Cruz could care less about anyone's civil liberties.
He was also grilling Holder about fast and furious and Benghazi.

(13,704 posts)Unless it could be resounding no. Cruz could have just asked if it is illegal to kill someone without going through legal procedure. Simple minded question that might to appeal to a simple mind.

(182,803 posts)Cruz, a lawyer, gives another lawyer a hypothetical and demands a Yes or No - lawyer types don't like narrowing things down so much. The answer is and was about to be NO but everytime Holder got close to (or actually answered it) Cruz interrupted bemoaning that HE hadn't got an answer yet.

(9,214 posts)telling me I should accept the fact that my government wants to use drones against it's own citizens?
When someone is on the right side of an issue I agree with them, no matter how I feel about them or their stands on other issues. To do otherwise would be hypocrisy.
But beyond that, you should realize this is just taking an issue to an extreme so when they lose on this issue we will accept the lesser infractions which are killing people with drones on foreign soil and spying on Americans on American soil.

(182,803 posts)I wasn't saying the Holder (& Obama) are in anyway right about this I just wanted to provide the full exchange. I have been hearing about this from the voices coming from my dashboard (I am not a dashboard believer) so I had to check it out. Cruz, a lawyer, gives another lawyer a hypothetical and demands a Yes or No - lawyer types don't like narrowing things down so much. The answer is and was about to be NO but everytime Holder got close to (or answered it) Cruz interrupted bemoaning that HE hadn't got an answer yet.
The staffer sitting beside him is something I don't think I have ever seen before.

(4,695 posts)an answer to his own question is really not what Cruz is after. One should not answer a rhetorical question. In my opinion, the person listening, is in control of the situation, especially after the first denial of accepting an answer by Cruz. Think of the films and videos: an out of control questioner - Cruz, and a listener - Holder.
To me, Cruz is nothing but a tacky, hate filled grandstander tattling on himself.

It's not so much what is wrong with Ted Cruz. Clearly he is "cut loose like a duce another Teapublican in the night".
What kind of sickness befell the people who voted for him?

(12,287 posts)but Holder has to learn to just say no and let it go.

(10,271 posts)all he needed to say was
"I would encourage you to ask the LAST Administration how they would have answered that question, 'cause MY boss is MOSTLY using Jr's playbook on this stuff. If you're not willing to do THAT, Senator, I suggest you STFU."
