(1,370 posts)Why bother with the theatrics anymore? Stop insulting our intelligence! I'd have more respect for Holder if he simply came out and said it? The ruling class in this country is above the law. At least it would relieve us of any expectations of a fair justice system.

(26,624 posts)ruin their life is not the kind of thing that we hope for in a justice system," says Parker Higgins, an internet activist at the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
Higgins was a friend and associate of the late Aaron Swartz (1986-2013), the computer programmer, hacker, and activist who committed suicide last week. Swartz helped create the web syndication process RSS, was important in the founding of the popular social media site Reddit, and instrumental in organizing the successful campaign against the Stop Online Privacy Act (SOPA). He was facing up to 35 years in prison and $1 million in fines for downloading more than 4 million academic articles from the database JSTOR.
Reason TV's Zach Weissmueller sat down with Higgins to talk about Swartz's contributions to the internet, his fight against the federal government, and reforms that should be made to outdated computer-hacking laws.

(19,326 posts)Connecting the Swartz case to the other dots, like Bradley Manning, the NDAA,
the drones, 100% saturation surveillance, the "kill list", and now a Bush Crime
Family bag-man as head of CIA.
They are all equally draconian developments on Obama's watch, some more so
perhaps than Mr. Rawmoney could ever have hoped to achieve.

(65 posts)I mean what has this corporate lapdog done? What important prosecution and conviction has his dept brought during his tenure?
- Whistle blowers? Record number getting prosecuted.
- Criminals that ran us up to the Iraq war? Move along...nothing to see here.
- Astounding, wholesale lawbreaking by virtually every major U.S. and Global bank? Nada. Apparently he believes that their health and wellbeing is more important than those of 99% of the American people.
- Drones anonymously vaporizing American citizens ON U.S. SOIL? Uh...well...maybe. WTF? Do these idiots think that the U.S. can run roughshod over wherever we please, raining down Hellfire (wonderful name) missiles with impunity will not come back and bite us in our collective asses? Every time we unleash these attacks, we multiply the enemy we are trying to "subdue". But I digress.
What the hell has AG Holder done for justice in America.
Does anyone know?
