1. Great episode.(they all were) and great acting.

Carroll O'Connor big liberal nailing the racist, ultra conservative Archie every single time perfectly.

My fatherinlaw was a real life Archie.

He was not happy when President Obama became President.
Anything for the gun and the bullet and the hunting and the beer.
Hated unions his whole life then used them to get lifetime disability.

and great that AntennaTV is playing All in the Family and Maude and Sanford and Son along with the other older vintage shows

3. The Death Penalty

I'm enjoying watching this episode, but isn't it jarring to have a guy advocating for the return of the death penalty being portrayed as a nearly-extinct neanderthal politically ?

Watching this show makes it clear how much has changed. One man with nothing more than high school diploma could buy a house and support a family, including a scrounging son-in-law going to college. And him a right wing union man too.

Loved the TV exec's line about Archie's ilk becoming extinct. I used to believe that kind of thinking was passing away, but no. The Archies of the world still walk among us, sounding as brilliant as ever.
