Washington (CNN) – Democratic Congressmen Mel Watt brought his one-year-old grandson to Attorney General Eric Holder's hearing before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

Watt held his grandson Nico on his lap as he questioned Holder regarding intellectual property.

It became evident a few minutes into the hearing that a baby was present when murmurs and cries could be heard from Watt's grandson, interrupting the otherwise serious hearing. Watt tried to pass the baby off to a staffer while questioning Holder to avoid the distraction but his grandson squirmed in reluctance.

Holder drew a few laughs from the crowd in response to Nico's appearance saying, "Mr. Watt you are only supposed to do that at your confirmation hearing. That's when you roll out the kids…"
