CA state government has a Democrat Governor (who USED to be liberal) a Democrat Senate, and a Democrat Assembly yet 3 strikes is still law, and human rights are still abused. and Corporations are profiting from these prisons. what would Jesus do ?
this is the 3rd Hunger Strike because of the torturous and inhumane treatment of the prisoners.
Is this how a so called Liberal state treats it's fellow human beings? its fellow citizens? uses its tax dollars in such a way?
Shameful.

JULY 13TH RALLY AT CORCORAN -
SIGN THE PLEDGE OF RESISTANCE and become part of the EMERGENCY RESPONSE NETWORK:
DONATE (any amount helps) on the Youtube site.
SIGN THE PETITION TO GOVERNOR BROWN: on the youtube site
MORE INFORMATION: on the Youtube site
In 2011, over 12,000 prisoners and their family and community members participated in statewide hunger strikes protesting the inhumane conditions in California's Security Housing Units (SHU or solitary confinement). California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation promised meaningful reform as a result of those protests, but nothing meaningful has reached the people living in these cages. Prisoners have announced another hunger strike will begin July 8th because of CDCR's failure to fulfill that promise.
On July 8, prisoners living in the SHUs at Pelican Bay and other prisons will resume their hunger strike and work stoppages if decisive action is not taken by the State before then.
On July 13, we will mobilize from around California to Corcoran State Prisonwhich isolates over 1,600 people in solitary confinementto stand in solidarity with striking prisoners across the state. We must take this movement to the prison gates and show the Governor and the Department of Corrections that we support the prisoners and demand that the Governor meet with prisoner representatives immediately to negotiate their demands!
California currently holds nearly 12,000 people in extreme isolation. The state spends over $60 million per year on maintaining prisoners in isolation.
Demand the State of California stop the torture!
Show your support for the hunger strikers!
Organize to help win their demands!
Rally at Corcoran State Prison on July 13th!
More info for the mobilization:
Rides available by bus and carpool.
Caravans leaving from MacArthur BART in Oakland at 9:00AM and Chuco's Justice Center in Inglewood at 8:30AM.
We will gather at 2PM for a RALLY at Cesar Chavez Park in Corcoran 1500 Oregon Ave, Corcoran CA 93212
We will MARCH from the park to the front gates of CORCORAN STATE PRISON. (there will be transportation available for folks who are physically unable to march)
How You Can Support
We need your support now more than ever! Please consider making a donation to our coalition so that we can continue to fight for the human rights of people in extreme isolation in California prisons. Funds collected will be used for the July 13 mobilization in addition to other coalition expenses such as monthly mailings to prisoners, legal visits to Pelican Bay and Corcoran and other printing expenses.
Donations can be made online at www.prisons.org;be sure to click the "Special Instructions" link and write "PHSS" to direct your donation to us. Or you can write a check to California Prison Focus/PHSS and mail it to PHSS 1904 Franklin Street #507, Oakland, CA 94612.
We could also use donations of such as food and water for the July 13 mobilization, as well as vans or buses for the caravan to Corcoran.

Please click on the Youtube video so it gets more voted viewers.. maybe if the Governor see's how many are viewing it he might do something to help stop the abuse at the Prisons.
I grew up in the Central Valley where there are several prison including two women's prisons.. there is horrendous abuse. I worked with nurses how had 2nd jobs at them.. they told of horrible stories.
Here is what was on facebook for the rally on the 11th
These men need our support. Now more than ever, they are going to be confronted with even more opposition and they are on their feet till they fall to their knees. CDCR is not going to be able to keep the Press out. This time around its going to be harder not because they are not heard, not because they do not have our support. Its because of numbers....... CDCR number game.
Brown has vowed to fight the overcrowding case. That has a impact on them. Plain and simple CDCR has a design capacity which they are exceeding. They cant leave those cells vacant because they still get counted. If they move inmates who don't belong in the SHU even by their own criteria they still count the inmate and the space. So that is space they cannot use.. think they are going to do that? CDCR does not waste space. They will use every tactic possible to manipulate that 137%. The more support these men get at the outset the less they have to continue to suffer in the end.
CDCR to move 2600 at risk valley fever, 10,000 must be moved by Dec and how many are in the SHU???????/
