A shocking and very telling statistic, none-the-less.

(45,984 posts)I don't think either Dr. King or President Obama is at all exotic.
I have a grandnephew and grandniece who are half Chinese, a quarter Japanese and a quarter everything I am, a northwest European mutt. If it's north of the Alps and west of the Rhine, I've got a piece of it, including a family of French or German Jews who came to America in the first half of the nineteenth century.

(4,572 posts)Making black people dress like that, calling them slaves and calling them that slur isn't racist. Or something.
Yeah, I don't get it either.
Zoeisright
(8,339 posts)Yes she is a fucking racist. You think saying "I want to throw a plantation wedding with blacks serving guests slave style" isn't racist??? Christ on a stick.
BTW, that bitch also let her brother keep running things, even after he used the N word constantly, showed porn to his female employees, told black employees to use a separate bathroom AND entrance, and made this comment to female employees: "Women should have flat heads so men have some place to set their beer when they're getting b*** j**s."
You think that's fine? You think that's okay? If so, you are SICK.
I seriously hate people who think that bitch is A-OK. Buh-bye.

(10,237 posts)...so many of the teabagger republicans have such a high opinion of Dr. King.
PEACE!

(7,403 posts)So, "bye, bye black sheep". Oh, wait, that last part is Phoenix. But it reflects a long standing Republican theme that Obama is "uppity" so it all comes down to race. And race is the very essence of today's Republican Party that is now controlled by the Tea Party that would throw all minorities over the side like they did the tea in Boston way back when.
slaves over the side during 'The Middle Passage'.

(2,517 posts)There are independent and progressive thinkers and voters in GA (like me) who happen to view Dr. King as one of the most important thought leaders in this country's history.

(3,596 posts)I am a northern transplant to Georgia (for work) and while within the "perimeter" I find these views at least outwardly rare, I have no doubt as you move out from the Atlanta "core" you will find these views more and more widely embraced.
Some of it is outside of Atlanta, Atlanta is hated because it is a fairly liberal city with a black majority. It also drives much of the state's economy and the "provinces" dislike that.
I'm sure that many a man and woman in rural Georgia think Paula Deen is a goddess and her food is of the angels and any n**** that gets in her way needs to be dealt with.
It is still a vestige of the old south. It is rooted in religion and a lack of education plain and simple.

(24,223 posts)I have some good friends in Georgia, and I feel so sorry for them. I suppose if you put your head in the sand and don't tune in to the radio or TV media, you might be able to be happy living there. I'd hang myself before the first year was out. Such a sad part of the country....the South.

And before anyone bashes me for this, quit electing fucktards like Rick Perry, Ted Cruz, "Bobby" Jindal, etc. etc. etc. etc. When that stops, I'll stop bashing the south.

(459 posts)59+73=132. ? 132 percent is a number above the populace. How did anyone arrive at this number. It doesn't make any sense...
Niceguy1
(2,467 posts)That asked a loy of questions but the sample was only about 500 people or so. It didn't break down the numbers by party, it brokenthem.down by ideology. .I e very liberal, some what liberal, moderat, somewhat conservative, etc
Too small a sample to mean anything, Good for laughs, though.

(25,348 posts)-Georgians across party lines believe in creationism over evolution. The overall numbers are 53/29- it's 70/17 with Republicans, 43/33 among Democrats, and 46/40 with independents.
