2: a murder conviction is easier when there is a murdered body
3: several eyewitnesses who happen to be trained police observers is a plus at the trial.
4: subduing a suspect is simpler if the suspect just was in a knock down drag out fight (ie, tired, sore, not likely to run)
5: victim might win fight, making arrest easier
6: victim might commit their own felony which needs to be witnessed

(7,745 posts)But they should FIRE any police officers who sit idle while innocent people's lives are at risk. And those officers should be black-listed from ever becoming a police officers ever again.

(265 posts)Here are the citations from a couple of cases that clarify why the police are not there to protect YOU; they're there to protect PROPERTY and maintain order. They are not obligated to protect you. Remember that the next time you talk to a libertarian and he talks about "government gun power" and "initiation of force".
