They believed the "Wag The Dog" crap so much that they refused to listen to warnings about Middle East terrorism.

It's not a surprise when you consider how chummy the Bush Crime Family is and was with the Saudi Royal Family. To them, the Middle East was about oil and vast amounts of money.
