The video could be understood to suggest Michael Moore supports our attacking Syria. This tweet shows the exact opposite is true.

He objected (as "too gauche&quot bombing them on a particular day; but says it would be "cool" to bomb them the next!

That was a sarcastic message in the extreme.

Watch Fahrenheit 9/11 and then try to tell me Michael Moore is in favor of our country launching a war of choice.

It is my belief that once they attack us, we have the right and responsibility to bomb Syria, but not a moment before.

As to what "everyone" on DU believes, I am not in a position to say.

Looks like he's on the side of the rebels. I don't think the rebels have done a lot to be proud of.

Assad is definitely a murderous despot, but he is being propped up by Russia and China, and is looking pretty untouchable right now.

That to me suggests at least unity of purpose with the rebels, most of whom are Syrian. I was just struck by his comment, which I think was off the cuff and not particularly thought out. I assume he is against any strikes in Syria.

That can be our debate. They are not the same.

Let's hear it for the Syrian people... same as the American people... Let's NOT hear it for the Rebels, and let's not pretend who their true identity is.

On the contrary, it confirms the rebels are largely comprised of Syrian army defectors and Syrian Islamists.

I didn't say it was black and white. YOU did. You are the one who made the definitive pronouncement, absurd on its face, that the rebels and the Syrian people are mutually exclusive.

benefits from our military, as they did in Libya then went on a murderous rampage throughout the country.

Any word on holding the 'rebels' accountable for their use of CW against civilians btw? It's odd that the US ignored that report to the UN. I thought they were concerned far more about CW getting into the hands of extremists than anything else. Yet, we know that to be the case, and the US is silent on the subject.

It is not a black or white world.

I've had this discussion with you before, and you don't need to hijack this thread to repeat it, but the UN will not do anything about Syria as long as Russia and China sit on the Security Council.

The proposed strike to take out Assad's chemical weapons artillary does not involve a ground war nor siding with the rebels. I have wasted enough time with you on this in another thread. It is clear to me having a serious discussion with you on this issue is a waste of time.

They are not the same.

I know there are many outside fighters, but to say that the rebels and the Syrian people are mutually exclusive has no basis in fact.

I am not the one who is confused.

So, don't pretend everyone is so misinformed as you...

"The Syrian People"

"The Rebels"

Not of the same ilk.... and just in case you are so out to lunch on that, I would compare "we, the people of the united states"... with "The (choose the tea bag state of your choice) Militia"

You can also understand we the people of the US are civilians and we the people of Syria are same, can't you?

Of course, you had to have it spelled out for you... seriously.

... but why?

I mean apart from the unpardonable sin of refusing to become yet another compliant figurehead
puppet for the West, what has Assad done to deserve such vilification by US corporate media and
prominent Left Gatekeepers such as Michael Moore? Anyone?

Thanks in advance.
