If I made a statement like that about New York, then I would be banned. As I should be.

You could put together a whole album for the Gun Culture

This person is a gun nut, a musical one at that.

Other titles:

"Never Catch a Falling Gun" and "The Day My Sig Went Sauer"

And the Gun Ban song...

I'm far more worried about a white guy (or gal) breaking into my house looking for meth-making materials and Oxy than any black man. In my area, it's about four to five times as likely. I know, I process police blotters as part of my job. Hell, even our big "fall harvest" drug roundups (that would be a string of indictments handed down about 30-60 days before an election ... take a guess why that is) are about 10 to 1 white vs. black.

Not that I'm the kind of guy who carries a penis extension (err, big black handgun) to take a shit or go to Walmart. I legally can, but I chose long ago that is not an option for me. Hell, I'd have to key at least three locks to get something out in an "emergency," so I'm better off with a cricket bat. Besides, everyone just thinks I'm a weird British guy if I walk down the street with that stuck down the front of my pants

anywhere on this issue. There are more gun owners than there are registered republicans in this country, and they are not distributed solely in the south.

This 'contribution' is not helping.

Some of us would actually like to pass some legislation that might make a difference, and here you are, manufacturing recruitment fodder for the other side.

60+ million is a fair fucking chunk, if you first deduct all the people who have been through our criminal justice system, and sub-18 year olds for long guns, sub 21 year olds for pistols.

Oregon has a higher ownership rate than Texas. Washington is just under Texas.

You are not a rabid "Gun rights advocate" just because you own a gun. Most of the people you list as statistics are in favor of stricter gun laws. The NRA and gun manufacturers control of State and Federal legislators is the problem. Their money, not the feelings of a majority of American gun owners, is what drives our country's gun craziness.

Despite being a solidly blue state, hasn't failed to roll out electoral votes for a single Democratic Presidential Candidate in my lifetime, two Democratic senators. A officially D-leaning state legislature...

We just torched another attempt at an assault weapons ban, and made silencers legal.

This is not an up-down party issue. Until people come to realize that... we're just making noise here folks. And demonizing people is the least productive form of that noise.

My father, a Vietnam vet, and lifetime Union worker, member of the Democratic Party, falls within the constraints of 'gun culture' or 'gun rights advocate'. Mom too (though not a Vietnam vet).

This kind of bullshit is not appreciated, and convinces no one of anything, except just how shrill someone can be on an issue.

Well of course. There are all kinds of reasons why a law-abiding citizen might need to have a silencer or a military grade machine gun. Seems perfectly reasonable.

As a southerner, I'll spell it out for the tea-baggers and other racists:
The old Confederate states are not a separate nation.
They challenged Washington in an effort to maintain their stave based economy.
Guess what? They fucking lost. Period. Done.

The south they are glorifying died in the 1860s and we are all better off for it.
I used to be pretty 'meh' about the Confederate battle flag, now I think of it in the same light as the Nazi flag.
