You are so right! You can post the same thing two different times here and get two entirely different reactions...

I missed new rules this weekend and was about to go looking for it. I'm glad I checked in here first.

I am still holding a grudge against HBO. We don't have cable and to order HBO, you have to have a cable service first and we just won't do it. We can afford to pay for it but we just feel it's too steep a price to pay over 50 bucks a month for basic cable plus HBO. And why watch the Emmy's because the winners were on cable too. oh well. As long as DU posts the clips, I can catch him. Thanks for posting.

holding back from getting more customers by that subscription requirement that we will refuse to pay. I'll pay for HBO Go online and I'll pay happily but I can't no matter what I do. I have to get cable first. They are totally not tapping that market.

There is a philosophy at work here. It's an extension of the "There's no such thing as a free lunch". It goes, "Every want or need should be for SALE". Some of these greedheads have taken it to the extreme. If they could, they would bill us for breathing.

Provoked an internet contretemps by Tbogg that's a twitter comedy classic ...with a surprising arc. Maher's segment reminded me.

15. "world's ugliest animal"? He is that immature to show a fully clothed obese woman shopping

and call her the world's ugliest animal???? Seriously, think if that was your mom or sister?

And THEN, he has the audacity to complain for an entire segment about how cruel people are on the net?

wtf?

And I'm a dude (as several dozen here know, and old mods have seen my pic, I'm average sized, so forget about saying the standard, "oh you must look like her" crap that some people say to those who stand up against bully behavior), not a large woman he wants to humiliate to all of her friends, coworkers or family by showing her from behind and calling her the world's ugliest animal.

And there are several thousand woman, I'm sure, across the country who have that same color hairstyle and wear jeans and tops like her, and probably a lot of them are for the same issues we are for, and it's not bad enough they get teased when they go outside all the damned time, but people like Maher pile on by showing a blob fish that's been called the world's ugliest animal, and says ah ah ah! - you haven't seen this one at walmart!

What grade are you in, Billy, 5th?

When I called out a large group of FFA high school students for mocking one of our friends we were walking with at the state fair a decade or so back, I didn't care that they were bigger and stronger. It was the right thing to do. They were pointing and laughing and saying oh my god, look how fat that thing is, and my friend just tightened his lips and kept walking - well not with me around is crap like that gonna happen! They cowered down like the --- truly ugly animals --- they were.

When it's smart humor, I can laugh at about anything, no matter the topic, but when you're just being incredibly mean just to be mean for a quick laugh, and not thinking how that makes that person feel LONG after you've humiliated them? Well, that's something that should be called out...
