Grass

By Carl Sandburg

Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo.
Shovel them under and let me work—
I am the grass; I cover all.

And pile them high at Gettysburg
And pile them high at Ypres and Verdun.
Shovel them under and let me work.
Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?
Where are we now?

I am the grass.
Let me work.

The CEOs of large corporations moved ALL the jobs out of the city and left behind NOTHING but a shell. They forced the default of the city. Notice how the commentator doesn't even mention our broken economic system as the cause of the failure of Detroit. He carefully avoids the REAL REASON for the destruction and abandonment of Detroit.

What gives these old rich white guys the right to make that decision for 5.2 million people? Why are corporations allowed to leave behind such a mess and do NOTHING to ensure the mess does NOT happen? Who allowed these old men to control so many other people's lives?

Capitalism is a cancer that needs to be cut out. Who turned these CEOs and corporate stooges into kings? Whatever happened to democracy? Why don't we have democracy in our economic system?

Detroit would never have turned into a ghost town had the employees been allowed to run the corporations or just been given a chance to provide some input on the decision.

I thought he was a non-elected governor appointed Czar...was I wrong? Or is the 60 Minutes coverage less than objective?
